If you are not trying to model a specific train, get a Bethlehem Car Works M70 and some sort of rider car. A P70 would be a good choice. I think Eastern Car Works makes a better one than Bachman, but...

Given a ten car limit I would start mentally with 5 B60s and 5 X29s. I am not sure about X29s being RTR....the WKW/Trainline/Trainminiatures is a quick shake the box thing, but you do have to buy...
